RED JACKET 1/96 SCALE 41” Long
Red Jacket was commissioned by Messrs Seacomb and Taylor of Boston, designed by Samuel H. Pook, and built by George Thomas in Rockland, Maine. She was a large, extraordinarily beautiful vessel of perfect proportions and was probably the best known of the clippers launched in 1853. Proof of the fine sailing ability of Red Jacket is the fact that she is one of only 10 sailing ships ever to have exceeded a passage of over 400 nautical miles made good in a 24 hour time period. On her maiden voyage she set a record for commercial sailing vessels which stands to this day, New York to Liverpool in 13 days, 1 hour and 25 minutes. K1017-Price: |
