The
fishing trawler Lady Smith was constructed in 1906 at Yorkshire, England. She had a steel hull and an alternating triple
expansion steam engine. A coal-fired tubular boiler producing steam at 180
pounds per square inch enabled her to reach a speed of 10 knots.
Constructo's plank-on-bulkhead kit is well researched and accurately
reproduced. All wooden parts are pre-cut, and fittings are plentiful. Cast
metal is used for the ship's wheel, propeller, lifeboat, air vents and
skylights. Bell, eyebolts, gear shafts and steam
cylinders are brass. Rigging line, sail material, cloth flags and colorful
decals, wooden display base with pedestals are all included. A book of full
color photos showing every phase of construction accompanies clear plans and
detailed instructions.
